Of all the collectibles and other such quests in the world of Red Dead Redemption 2, the Dreamcatcher quest is one of the lesser known. It’s not associated with any formal “quest,” but rather tasks you with finding the dreamcatchers in the game world with no prompting. Rather than hoping to get lucky and stumble upon one by chance, this guide will detail all 20 Dreamcatcher locations. Finding all 20 will net you the Ancient Arrowhead, which will double your stamina when using the bow.
When you get close to a Dreamcatcher, you’ll feel a controller vibration and a subtle sound cue. To spot them easier, use your Eagle Eye and you’ll see the dreamcatcher’s tree marked with gold dust.
Red Dead Redemption2: All Dreamcatcher locations
Location 1
The first Dreamcatcher is located just northwest of Flatneck Station. It’s a lone dead tree just off the road that should be fairly easy to spot. Simply approach the tree and hold down the Inspection prompt to mark the Dreamcatcher’s location.

Location 2
The second location is slightly harder to spot, located in a stand of trees just off the road a bit further north from Location 1. You may want to use your Eagle Eye to help spot this one.
Location 3
This location is just southwest of Valentine, near Lucky’s Cabin. Again, use Eagle Eye to help locate this one.
Location 4
This Dreamcatcher is located up a steep hill off the main road. You should be able to use your horse to make the climb, then look for a lone tree on the slope to find the Dreamcatcher.
Location 5
Slightly further up the road from Location 4, this tree is also located on a slope, but is a bit easier to access on foot. It’s also harder to spot, so Eagle Eye may be a good idea here.

Location 6
Look for this tree just east of Cotorra Springs. This area is a big spawn for wolves, so come armed.
Location 7
Located south of The Loft, this tree has a distinctive look. It’s more of a broken half-tree than anything, so it should be fairly easy to see from the road.
Location 8
The next several trees are located in the forests around Annesburg. This one, in particular, is just across the river near the Viking burial ground, near a fork in the road.

Location 9
If you drop a marker right on the “N” in the word “Annesburg,” it should lead you right to this Dreamcatcher, located right next to the road. You’re looking for a massive old tree overhanging the road itself.
Location 10
Your halfway point is located on a hill on the outskirts of Annesburg. You’ll be treated with an excellent view for this one. The tree itself is dead and gnarled, so it should be an easy spot.
Location 11
For this one, you’ll be heading up a hill near Location 10. You’ll get another excellent view, and mark another Dreamcatcher off your list.
Location 12
Look for this tree just south of the Elysian Pool, a little ways off the road. This is another tree you might consider using Eagle Eye to aid in spotting.
Location 13
The next tree on the list will take you south, to the very edges of Bluewater Marsh. Drop your marker just north of the “B” in the word Bluewater to find it.
Location 14
This tree is located not far from Location 14. You’ll find it to the north of Lonnie’s Shack.

Location 15
Just west of the Aberdeen Pig Farm, this tree should be an easy spot. It’s the lone tree in the middle of a rolling green field, and is visible from quite a distance.
Location 16
Heading further into the Heartlands, this tree is easy enough to track down. Just place a marker near the top left corner of the giant “O” in New “Hanover,” and it’ll lead you right to it.
Location 17
This tree is located on the shores of the Heartland Overflow. Like Location 15, it’s a pretty solitary tree in the midst of some flat fields, so you should be able to pick it out from a good ways off.
Location 18
This is another lone, spindly dead tree sitting square in the middle of the rolling green fields of the Heartlands.
Location 19
Heading back towards Valentine, you’ll find this tree just off the nearby railroad. It can be hard to pick out, as there are a bunch of similar trees nearby, so use your Eagle Eye to help out.
Location 20
This final tree will have you heading almost back to where you started. Once again, look near the railroad to spot it.

Ancient Arrowhead Location
After finding the final tree, Arthur will pull out his journal to reveal that the Dreamcatchers form the rough outline of a Buffalo. You’ll also notice a single X that isn’t part of the pattern, north of the Elysian Pool. Drop a marker at the end of the river that feeds into the pool.
Once there, you’ll see a waterfall. Simply walk through the waterfall and you’ll find yourself in a winding cave system. To locate the arrowhead, head into the caves and go right when the path splits. You’ll find yourself in a large central chamber. Keep to the right and climb up the rocky outcroppings to top left corner of the chamber.
Once there, you’ll spot a smaller antechamber decorated with cave paintings depicting buffalo and various other animals. Examine the paintings, then look for the largest buffalo painting, which can be seen to the right in the image above. You’ll notice the buffalo’s eye is marked with a circle, and you’ll see that it’s actually a small compartment inside the rock. Search this compartment to recover the Ancient Arrowhead and complete the quest.
